OActive Project Meeting in Valencia: Towards Better Osteoarthritis Treatment

Today, the OActive Project consortium met in Valencia at the Hospital Universitari i Politècnic La Fe after one year of project execution. Osteoarthritis is a degenerative disease of the joints and the most common form of arthritis that causes pain and mobility limitation and, thus, reduces independence and overall quality of life.

During this meeting, partners presented the work done individually. Tasks concentrated mainly on the system architecture requirements and use cases and on biochemical modelling and inflammation biomarkers.

The OActive scientific and technological objectives focus on the development objectives of patient-specific computer models and simulation in order to develop appropriate OA prevention interventions or treatments. The main focus of the OActive will be on knee OA (KOA) because this is the joint where OA symptoms most frequently cause significant loss of function and mobility.
