MATEX

Research in new MAterials (composite, graphenic & ceramic) and TEXtiles for professional clothing protection against projectiles, environment, fire and biological risks

ABSTRACT

The objective of the MATEX project is to investigate various technologies of materials and textiles that allow achieving substantial improvements in clothing and professional protections, especially for state security and armed forces. It also targets other professional bodies with high security demands, such as firefighters, security companies, operators in industrial environments, etc. Specifically, it is expected to achieve an important technological leap in terms of protection against projectiles (also blows, explosions and stab attacks), fire and biological and environmental risks, maintaining the best conditions of comfort and ergonomics. To do this, new techniques, tools and methodologies in ceramic, graphene and composite materials will be investigated as well as textiles and their finishing processes. Special interest will be given to the use of recycled fabrics and natural fibers, contributing to the circular economy.
