Effects of the release of microplastics from washing processes discussed at SEPAWA Congress 2015

Rosa Escudero, Principal R&D Researcher at LEITAT will speak at the SEPAWA Congress about the Mitigation of micro plastics impact caused by textile washing processes. The SEPAWA Congress is one of the largest specialist associations in Europe, where experts from the detergents/cleansers, cosmetics and perfume industries gather from the whole continent. Professsionals from both small and medium-sized businesses and major companies, scientists from industry and the university sector as well as representatives of authorities and consumer associations use SEPAWA for dialog and an interdisciplinary exchange of ideas.

 

Rosa Escudero is leading the research activities of Mermaids project within LEITAT and head of Fast Moving Consumer Goods department. Mermaids is a research project that contributes to the mitigation of the impact caused by micro and/or nanoplastic particles resulting from laundry waste water on European seas’ ecosystems. The proejct demonstratates and implements innovative technologies and additives for laundry processes and textile finishing treatments.
