Round Table on Intellectual Property: Vaccines and Patents –
A spotlight on equitable access to medicines during a global health
crisis and thereafter

WAITRO, the Africa Europe Innovation Partnership (AEIP), the Research Fairness Initiative
(RFI) and the North-West University (NWU) invite you to join the open online discussion on the
Intellectual Property: Vaccines and Patents. We will explore the role and impact of intellectual
property protection on equitable access to medicines during a global health crisis such as the
COVID-19 pandemic to leverage these learnings in the future.

As part of the AEIP Final Event, the online round table will take place on June 30 at 13:00-14:30
(CET) and will include short presentations from experts on:
Intellectual property regimes and licensing
Lessons learned and new potentials for technology transfer
Practical considerations based on their experiences in the field
The invited experts will engage in a panel discussion, which will be followed by an open Q&A
session with the online audience.
