LEITAT @ 19th SETAC LCA Case Study Symposium

The Environment unit of LEITAT has been presenting results from various projects at the 19th SETAC (Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry) Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Case Study Symposium which was held the 11-13 November 2013 in Rome, Italy.
The theme of the symposium, jointly organised by SETAC and ISIE, was LCA in market research and policy: Harmonisation beyond standardization. The purpose of the symposium was to discuss how LCA can support the decision making process at all levels, i.e. industry and policy contexts, and how LCA results can be efficiently communicated and be used for supporting market strategies.
Within this scope, the Sustainable unit has been presenting the following results:

  • “Life Cycle Assessment to guide the eco-design of new upholstery product incorporating green processes and recycled materials” from the GREENUP project (EU-ECOINNOVATION).
  • “Life Cycle Assessment to assess new thermoelectric systems applied to power generation in the automotive sector” from the NEXTEC project (EU-FP7-NMP).
  • “Life Cycle Assessment as a methodology to measure the environmental benefits of the innovative strategy applied for the urban waste treatment in URWASTECH project” from URWASTECH project (EU-LIFE).
  • “Life Cycle Assessment as a methodology to develop an easy tool, BookDAPer, to improve the environmental performance of printed products produced by SMES” from GREENINGBOOKS project (EU-LIFE).
  • “Life Cycle Approach to define new Product Categories Rules for Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) system of construction products” from national DAPc system in collaboration with CAATEEB.
