The EASIZero consortium meets in Taastrup, Denmark, for its’ M24 review meeting

The 16 partners of the EASIZERo Project Consortium gathered the 19th and 20th of Novembre in Danish Technological Institute in Taastrup (Copenhagen) to review their progress over the past months.

The EASIZERo Project proposes a groundbreaking global approach to cut the environmental impact of the building sector, enhancing building thermal performance by 20% through innovative bio-sourced and recycled materials.

The first day of discussions covered advancements in developing sustainable products, including mycelium-based insulation, wood fibers, low-carbon foam, multifunctional bricks, bio-based window frames and healthy, eco-friendly finishes. The updates also highlighted milestones in material optimization, product assembly for green construction, and testing these components under controlled conditions.

The second day of meetings focused on integrating renewable energy solutions like photovoltaic panels, harmonizing design and performance modeling tools, and strategizing replicability for diverse building types and climates. In addition, insights from the partners were captured in video interviews to aid dissemination efforts of the project.

The meeting concluded with an alignment on upcoming deliverables, reaffirming the project’s vision of cost-efficient, sustainable, and circular construction solutions.

Beyond the working sessions, the consortium members had the opportunity to enjoy a lab tour of DTI Taastrup facilities such as their Concrete and the Wood and Biomaterials Centre and visit to their real-size test bed demosite.

During the meeting, Leitat was able to showcase its activities within’ the EASIZERo Project, such as the presentation of the painting development made in collaboration with two local companies: a bio-based polyurethane for the bio-based polyurethane window frames of INDRESMAT, and free-VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) painting for indoor wall in collaboration with MVIC with potentially EcoLabel marking. Also, Leitat’s preliminary results of the LCA, LCC and social-LCA of EASIZero developed products were presented during the meeting.
