European Commission highlights X-SEED during the European Hydrogen Week
On November 19th , during the European Hydrogen Week, we hosted a representative from the European Commission’s Representation Office in Barcelona at our Leitat Terrassa facilities to discuss the X-SEED project, a pioneering initiative aimed at revolutionizing green hydrogen production.
The X-SEED project is an ambitious research effort funded by the European Union with the goal of making green hydrogen production affordable and scalable. By reducing the cost of green hydrogen to €3/kg, the project aims to make it a viable and sustainable alternative to fossil fuels. This would allow the widespread adoption of hydrogen across various industries, from manufacturing to transportation, significantly contributing to the decarbonization of the economy.
Pau Bosch, project coordinator of X-SEED, presented an in-depth look at the project’s objectives, the technological innovations behind it, and the steps needed to overcome the challenges of producing green hydrogen at scale. The team discussed the need for cutting-edge technologies and infrastructure to ensure that green hydrogen can meet the demands of industries while remaining cost-effective.
This visit from the European Commission highlights the strategic importance of X-SEED in helping Europe meet its climate goals, while reinforcing Leitat’s leadership in driving sustainable energy solutions. X-SEED is not only about achieving lower costs, but also about ensuring that hydrogen can play a central role in the energy transition by replacing fossil fuels in industries and transportation systems.
The support of the European Commission for the X-SEED project demonstrates the EU’s commitment to fostering innovation and advancing the green energy transition across Europe.
