Research and valorisation of fatty products and antioxidants for animal production
The final objective of the project is to identify and value new fatty products and products rich in natural antioxidants that can be safely incorporated into the feeding of monogastric animals, improving the efficiency, profitability and sustainability of the agri-food industry and at the same time increase the useful life of foods while maintaining or improving their nutritional and organoleptic quality.
The challenge of the project is to identify, characterize and test products, fatty and products rich in natural antioxidants generated by the agri-food industry itself, in order to generate new products with a high added value that are useful for animal feed, promoting its transformation into a system of circular economy based on the reuse of resources and the valorization of products and co-products of plant origin and / or the fishing industry. In the last instance, what we intend to do is direct efforts towards an optimized and sustainable animal production, in line with the policies in this area.
This will be translated into feeding programs for monogastric animals (chickens, pigs and laying hens) more profitable, designing cheaper formulas for fodder based on incorporating greasy and alternative antioxidants, improving the useful life of the final products and promoting their use by the animal.
